The First Annual CardConnect Cube Crawl
In the first of many events to come this spring/summer, we organized a friendly competition between some of our office beer aficionados. Each person selected one of their favorite brews to share with the office, then set up pouring stations at six tables in the office.
The challengers
Duchess De Bourgogne
Brouwerij Verhaeghe in Belguim
Belgian top-fermented Flanders red ale containing a blend of 8 and 18 months old beers following maturation in oak casks
DirtWolf
Victory Brewing Company in Philadelphia
An Imperial IPA brewed using whole flower Chinook, Citra, Mosaic, and Simcoe hops
Sweet Baby Jesus
Duclaw Brewing Company in Maryland
A sweet and malty chocolate peanut butter porter with a subtle hop character and smooth finish
Poor Richard’s Tavern Spruce Ale
Yards Brewing Company in Downingtown PA
Based on Franklin’s original recipe, which called for spruce essence and molasses, as barley and hops were not readily available at the time.
Allagash White
Allagash Brewing Company in Portland, Maine
Belgian wit style beer brewed with coriander and Curacao orange peel
Smithwick’s
Diageo in Kilkenny, Ireland
Irish red ale style clear beer with a ruby color and creamy head, first produced by monks in the 13th century
And the winner is…
Duchess De Bourgogne chosen by Justin Shipe!
We had an awesome turnout and everyone had a blast. It was a great opportunity for our rapidly-growing office to get to know people from other departments while trying new and unique beers.
