Infographic: When a data breach occurs, what do consumers do?
A recent poll by CreditCards.com revealed some interesting information about how consumers behave after a store has been hit by a data breach. It turns out there are several factors that seem to impact how consumers react including age, education, and even geographic location or whether or not they have children.
Much of it makes sense. Busy parents value convenience, so they may tolerate a data breach more than someone without children. Cardholders over 65 may just be generally less trusting of newer technology in general because it’s not something they grew up with, so a data breach may concern them more.
One thing is clear–businesses should do everything they can to protect themselves from a breach. Otherwise they’ll not just tarnish their reputation, but also their bottom line.
